PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

NEW SERVICE OPERATING HOURS

 

In line with the government’s initiative to curtail the effect of global development on the country in terms of energy supply, the Ministry wishes to inform the public of the following important updates in relation to its service operating hours with members of the public on Mahe, Praslin and La Digue effective 17th April 2026, until further notice.

 

New operating days and hours

  • Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30am to 2.30pm
  • Tuesday from 8:30am to 12p.m.
  • Fridays – Office will remain closed

 

The office will however be closed to the public for submission and collection of non-Seychellois workers applications on Tuesdays.

Mandate

To play a vital role through employment related activities to build a productive workforce and to lend support to all efforts to enable the people of Seychelles to become self sufficient, enjoy decent work that leads to rewarding and enhanced quality of life.

Examples of ionizing radiation include alpha particles, beta particles, gamma rays, X-rays, neutrons, high-speed electrons, high-speed protons, and other particles capable of producing ions.

Examples of non-ionizing radiation include radio waves, microwaves, and visible, infrared, or ultraviolet light.

Routine labour inspection, Follow up Visits,  Investigation of complaints/occupational accident, Joint inspection (with Ministry of Health, Environment Department, Seychelles Licensing Authority)

  • A sign providing information or instructions about safety or health at work by means of a signboard, a colour, an illuminated sign or acoustic signal, a vertical communication or hand signal.

  • Signboard – a sign which provides information or instructions by a combination of shape, colour and a symbol or pictogram which is rendered visible by lighting of sufficient intensity

Safety Signs

  • The Occupational Safety and Health Regulations  require employers to provide specific safety signs whenever there is a risk that has not been avoided or controlled by other means, eg by engineering controls and safe systems of work with the following colours 

  • Blue: Mandatory
  • Red : Prohibition
  • Green : Information
  • Yellow : Warning

For your own safety, observe all safety signs!

All occupational accidents should be reported within 48hrs to the Labour Monitoring and Compliance Section in the Ministry of Employment, and Social Affiairs except for accidents resulting in a death which should be reported immediately.
