Registration Procedures for the Employment Training Schemes

 

  • Registration is done at the Ministry of Labour and Human Resource Development, Employment Schemes office, 4th Floor - Independence House Annex Victoria / or at the Outstation Office on Praslin and La Digue.
  • Candidates must be in possession of school leaving certificates, references, National identity card for registration.
  • After registration and counselling, arrangements are made to place the candidate in a workplace for a definite period of time, not exceeding 18 months.

Service Providers

Employment Services was introduced at district level as from August, 2012 in order to capture jobseekers and to ensure that they are guided on existing procedures, specifically those applying for welfare so that they can assist for employment opportunities first.

Duties

1. Assist the Private Employment Agency, District Administrator or Agency for Social Protection with regards to registration and placement of job seekers

2. Provide appropriate information including that of procedures in place for job placement to employers and jobseekers

3. Conduct job counseling

4. Facilitate access to employment

5. Conduct close follow-up of welfare recipients referred for interviews

6. Participate in initiatives to get jobseekers to register

7. Assist with compilation of monthly statistics and submission to the Labour Department

Employers Responsibilities

  •  Coach, guide, assist, counsel the trainee and supervise the work and training of the trainee or group of trainees at all times throughout the duration of the programme.
  •  Ensure that there is a training programme as designed.
  •  Allow the trainee to attend theoretical training when, where and as required.
  •  Request assistance from the Ministry when necessary for counseling and guidance, before disciplinary measures are taken.
  •  Inform Labour Department before giving notice for termination of the training.
  •  Provide full time employment to the participant upon successful completion and satisfactory performance.
