The Employment Department is part of the Ministry of Employment and Social Affairs.
Its main task is to place job seekers in employment and ensure sound industrial
relations at all times.
The Department has an establishment of 111 positions out
of which 91 positions are occupied, 6 positions are vacant and 14 positions are
frozen. This shows that the Department is operating with 82 percent of its establishment.
The Department received a budget allocation of 5million rupees in 2006, 74.46 percent
of which will go towards personnel emoluments and 25.54 towards other charges.
